Visual Development Work Blog

During the month of June, I learned how to setup layer textures in Maya and render them out. I also learned how to match lights from an image and recreate them in Maya. I have also learned how to cut back on the render times. In order to see the improvements on render times, you will to need change the settings in the legacy-sampling mode and in the unified sampling mode to a lowering the sampling values.I also learned how to setup the UV for an object. One of the techniques that I found useful was the Multiples UV layout Shot tool. The Multiples UV layout Shot helps to get a different UV shapes from an object from a different camera angles. Another tool that I found useful, was the unfold tool. The unfold tool helps to places the UV shell in 0 to 1 space and tries not to stretch out the UV shell. The only problem that you might run into, is that the unfold tool will try to over lap the UV shells. If you have over lapping UV shells, it could result in bad normals when trying to do a transfer map or baking a normal map for an object. You can see examples of my work for this month down below.
