Green Screen Removal
Original Footage
For this project I had to remove the green screen background element and composite the foreground dancer element into a new background. The software I used for this project was Nuke. For my Nuke script I had it set up into two different parts for the green screen removal. One part of the script was set up using different keyers to get the alpha channel of her body and the other part was set up to clean up green spill on the dancer. Once these were set up with no green spill or loss of details in her alpha, I then used a copy node to add them together to get a clean matte. Next, I had the script going into a color correct node to help fix any color changes that had happen during de-spill. The next part of the script was fixing up a halo effect that was happening around the dancer. I ended up using edge blur with her alpha mask to clean up the halo effect. Finally, I added a light wrap node around her and I also applied motion blur. Once the motion blur felt like it was looking right with everything else, it was time to composite her against a new background. I selected a theater stage to replace the green screen element. I then decided to add small details into the comp. I used her alpha to help make her shadows on the ground and I also added an increased grain into the overall footage. For the final look I also added a lens distortion node and a keyer node for greater realism.
